How to solve the problem with the slow work of heavy Microsoft Excel files?

In accounting, they work with very heavy exel files, it is obvious that they freeze a lot, long opening, saving the file, scrolling. As I understand it, with access there would be no such problem, but accountants do not have the skill to work with access. You can throw sticks at me, but I have no experience at all

Obviously, the answer is "work with small files in excel"
First, make a backup of all files. Now Find the fattest files (tens and hundreds of megabytes) and try to delete the old data that is not used in the calculations. If the accountants start screaming and demonizing at the same time, stop and try the next file. Rewrite all slow macros. Divide files by task. Don't throw all your eggs in one basket. Find alternatives to the solutions you use outside of excel. Use modern versions of files and office.
So the problem here is much broader, you need to take into account everything from the accountant’s PC configuration to their skills and tasks, so find a specialist who will help you deal with all the problems.
