How to solve the problem with the image cache in opencart?

Good day!
The problem in opencart 3 is that we load original images that are initially optimized and their size is on average 15-40kB.
In the image cache, as a result, we get 4-5 additional images of different sizes, but they are larger in volume and worse in quality.
How can I configure the image optimizer so that it does not reduce quality and increase volume?

Images are cropped to the correct size: system/library/image.php - resize method
You can rewrite it to fit your needs
