How to sew into an OverProvisioning disk?
Good afternoon, I bought a Samsung EVO 1TB disk for a SQL server, as they say, I saved it .. With prolonged use, the speed, frankly, is not so hot at all, 1000 IOPS and a constant disk queue, before that there was an Intel server, but it died.
After googling, I read that you can try to install OverProvisioning, now I looked at the same disk with the Samsung Magitian utility, there is no OP at all. It is exposed simply by making the logical disk smaller than the physical capacity, but the problem is that I have all the disks in the server connected through a hard raid and it uses all the space available on the disk.
Is it possible to flash this OP so that the hard raid does not see the entire capacity of the disk? Hardware raid LSI 9260-8i. Another question - if I create a raid in it and do not use part of the space on the virtual disk, will OP work? And if you do the same through Intel RST?
