How to setup .htaccess in laravel on live server?

Just set up the server, installed composer and installed a new laravel project on the server. I registered the path to the public/index.php file and an error
pops up. I read that this is related to the .htaccess file, it does not work, what should I do?

Rename .htaccess to htaccess.txt for the time
being, check, at least exclude a banal error in it.
