How to setup debugger in VS Code for JS?

Good evening. I am a beginner programmer (self-taught). I would like to see how my program works step by step, it has nothing to do with the browser, simple mathematical calculations, just want to make sure that in the future I can see visually how my programs work. Please tell me how to do this live
When you click on the start button, a window with a step-by-step launch button does not appear.

Click on the green triangle (upper left, next to "Run and debug") and select Node.js
