How to set up VPN behind NAT?

There is a GW-1 router that distributes the Internet (192.168.0.1) and whose settings there is no access
There is a GW-2 router that takes the Internet from GW-1 (192.168.0.2) and distributes it to the network (
192.168. had fast access to the 192.168.1.0/24 network from home.
I am considering two options:
1 - ask to forward ports for OpenVPN to GW-1
2 - buy a VPS and install an openvpn server on it to which both clients and GW-2 and employees from home will connect. But here the question is how to make the traffic between the GW-2 and the employee go directly and not through the VPS?
What kind of speed loss should be expected in the case of OpenVPN and are there any faster solutions?
Thanks

@Diman89

IMHO, the 2nd option is more correct and in the vpn server settings it is possible to specify how to route client traffic
