How to set up a secure backup?

I have a web server. I want to make a backup of data from time to time (mysql database, files uploaded by users, etc.). But I don't want a hacker to be able to access the backup and delete it if the server is hacked. Is there a way to send large files to a remote server without being able to delete them using the same login and password? Email fits these criteria well, but it is inconvenient to send large files there.
