How to set up a router or where to learn it?

I would like to gain knowledge in system administration, or rather on networks and settings of routers and networks.
What can I read in order to be able to get into the router and not fucking (that is, knowledge is closer to practice)

Before that, I read the book computer networks 5th edition and, as it were, I thought in a cool way I know about how everything works
(well ... in theory) , I bought myself a router, connected it, went into it and realized that knowledge in theory is something not right.

Vopschem I would like to continue my studies on computer networks, but so that after them I could configure the router without any problems, I understood what to configure and why to do it first.
I bought a router "MIKROTIK RB2011UIAS-2HND-IN" here it is in citylink: https://www.citilink.ru/catalog/computers_and_note...

To my regret, I couldn’t set it up, after watching YouTube and repeating the setup method, it didn’t work out, as a rule, somewhere the router simply didn’t let me enter the values.
Also, somewhere in the middle of the setup, the provider intervened, a browser came out with shouts, you blocked the connection,
go to your personal account, some kind of setup was immediately made there, and the Internet seemed to be, but the router was not configured. I set up "network 4" (well, that's what Windows called it), the provider intervened, "network 3" appeared, climbing on the router, no settings appeared, if I continued the setup, I jumped again to "network 4" and "goodbye Internet". Wifi provider.
Need more knowledge about networks, tell me reading material for this.

CCNA + some type of GNS simulator. Mikrotik has its own syntax, but tsiskovskiy personally seems more logical to me.

Can you answer what is
1. IP address?
2. Default gateway
3. port (if we are talking about an IP network)
4. What is a poppy address
5. What is DHCP
Then you can believe that you have read the book, and not flipped through.

You stupid demon, where did you climb after us! (c) A.S. Pushkin. That's the whole comment briefly to the situation described. It takes months and years to read dozens of different books on networks, computers and various other materials on the Internet before buying Mikrotik. Set tens and hundreds of experiments manually. With different devices. And even for years, you can not learn everything. For a century live - a century learn. He probably chased after the Wi-Fi, so that he would break through the whole apartment and catch it on the street. So I bought a Mikrotik without thinking with my head.

Mikrotik has a quick set,
here is a small article for what each item is responsible for.
I set it up, everything worked - then you can already crawl into each item. Those. for basic setup, you need:
* /ip/firewall - it is clear what it is (it has a filter and nat)
* /ppp/interface - there will most likely be a pppoe connection to the provider
* /ip/dhcp server - the server itself
/ip/pool - pool of addresses for dhcp
well, in general, yes, basic knowledge is not enough, to take a free video course "Networks for the smallest" is an excellent course that tells about the small company Linkmeup. (ps I see it has already been advised to you, for starters, the first 3 videos will be enough)

The complexity is not in the settings, but in the type of connection and how it will work, for beginners, QuickSet is enough.
You also need to know that providers often bind to Mac addresses, if you do not specify it, it will not work.

For Mikrotik - use quick setup
For problems / misunderstandings - ask specific questions
For the provider - specify the type of connection. Most likely there is either dhcp or static ip.
According to the rest - only experience, but without support from outside, from a knowledgeable person, it is quite difficult
. But you would have to put the information in your head. Ask questions, narrower, we will answer)

It's called the "full immersion method" and is generally recommended as the most ferocious but most effective method of learning a foreign language :)
If you don't know linux, it will be very difficult for you. Because mikrotik is linux, just a slightly noble muzzle is stretched over it (but this does not cancel understanding of the entire network part of linux). There are no wizards in it that would not let you shoot yourself in the foot, and even quick setup will make some kind of "average" configuration, not at all the fact that it suits you.
rb2011 is a good model, although quite old already, but with wifi. It has five gigabit and five 100Mb ports. Well, or you can imagine it as a computer with ten network cards :)
Download winbox and install it (you can use it from your phone, there is a configurator in the market, it is very similar to winbox), quick setup usually raises wifi.
Go to Google and dig into it, there are plenty of manuals for setting up Mikrotik.
First you need to achieve a provider connection - if it is on dhcp - configure the dhcp client on the desired port, if on static - learn how to prescribe it yourself.
Then set up a LAN (although quick setup can set it up, but it doesn’t interfere with learning)
Then deal with the security of wifi settings and the firewall.
Mikrotik is a powerful thing... in capable hands :)
