How to set up a homepage in wordpress?

Hello. Recently, I faced such a problem: on my site, I mark one rubric with a statistical main page. But when you go to the site, it loads the heading marked with the main page without the posts that it has, and if you click on the same heading in the menu, the posts in it are displayed. How to make the site load on one heading and articles written earlier are displayed in this heading, that is, mark a certain heading as the main page and display all the articles written in it?

Hello.
Wouldn't it be easier to create a front-page.php template and create the main page. And then in this template using WP_Query to display posts from a specific category?
