How to set up a 404 error for a link ending in /catalog/?id=?

Good afternoon. There is a link stekko.ru/catalog/?id= when you go to it, I get to the page stekko.ru/catalog/, you need this link to give a 404 error.
I write in HTACCESS: RewriteRule catalog/?id= [L,R=404] doesn't work. Thanks in advance

Put $ at the end of the rule to mark the end of the line.
