Ported the site (MODX) to Digitalocean .
There is a Vesta panel, a separate user is set up.

The problem is that all site files have 664 permissions, but they cannot be changed and saved in the site admin panel.
If you change to 666 - then everything is ok.
Through FTP, everything is normally edited and saved.

I think that in the server settings, not everything was correctly registered.

Tell me which way to dig.

It would be better to manually install apache2-mpm-itk and set the specific virtual host to run scripts as the user who owns the files.
Now php is running on behalf of the web user, so there is no way to change access rights

A user is created, added to the www-data group, the rights to files and folders are assigned as needed.
