How to set environment variable in PVE4 in LXC?

man7.org/linux/man-pages/man5/lxc.container.conf.5.html has an
example:
lxc.environment = APP_ENV=production
lxc.environment = SYSLOG_SERVER=192.0.2.42
but doesn't work in PVE4 because . the config is created dynamically (as I understand it), the question is whether it is possible to set environment variables somewhere and where?
