The site's certificate is invalid.

Error in browser console:

Access to XMLHttpRequest at ' https://handler.site/index.html ' from origin ' https://request.site ' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

Can this be bypassed somehow?

The browser can't be broken.
You can put a proxy on your resources
