How to run Socket.io as a standalone service?

Apache HTTP Server

There is a site which is launched on Apache. I want to connect Socket.io to the site and run the Socket.io server itself in tandem with Nodejs on a separate port. Started everything, there is a connection between the client and the server. But there is no data transfer between them at all. What could be the problem?
