How to run GUI on remote server?
Hello!
Background: I am an analyst with good python skills and very little technical knowledge. I want to try to deploy Cloudera Hadoop Distribution, Spark on a remote VPS server and connect to the spark via pyspark (just to get a feel for how it all works).
I chose haphost as a VPS hosting, got an account and a server (ubuntu 13.10 x64).
Managed to connect to the server via ssh, poked around in the console. Now I want to try to run some window manager.
Questions:
1. Can this be done at all?
2. Is it necessary, or is it enough to just work through the console to deploy a cluster?
3. Where can I read about it (especially about virtualization - I don't understand anything about it)?

1) Read about graphics http://wiki.autosys.tk/proxmox.VNC%20in%20container...
2) Enough console
3) Those who configure it should know about virtualization rather than those who use it.
Haphost uses https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenVZ
You need to remember about the last column in the /proc/user_beancounters file (the number of attempts to exceed the limits) and about the inability to load your drivers (for example, if you want to raise a VPN in a virtual machine, or NFS, or fine-tune the firewall, etc.).
Mhm.
1) it is possible, now it is fashionable through x2go - https://debian.pro/1618
2) it is possible
3) it is impossible to answer unambiguously here. start with the wiki/Virtualization and after half a year of walking through all the links on the tree from this article you will begin to understand something more or less.
