How to run asp.net on linux server?

Hello. Yes, there are many examples and solutions on the Internet, but half are old, half are not working.
The essence of the problem, I want to be able to run ASP.NET programs on a server under Ubuntu 14.04 (It doesn't matter, it won't take long to rearrange). I tried a bunch of options, a lot of code everywhere and it's not clear where to catch something later. I want a simple working instruction for this case, with an explanation of how to install, how to configure and how to work with it. Ideally, this would work in conjunction with nginx and php-fpm (but this is not at all necessary, as long as it works).
