How to run android emulator?

downloaded android sdk for linux with KDE
from available packages downloaded SDK Platform Android 3.0 API 11, rev 1
created a new virtual device, pressed start,
first it took up the entire screen - there was only one word ANDROID on a black background _
after killing it with difficulty, launched it again by checking the scale display to real size checkbox , I
got a tiny window with tiny letters ANDROID _ and
unchecked the scale display to real size checkbox, set wipe data, started it again - now the android logo “glitters” in the tiny window for about 10 minutes. close it only through kill
it and there is a virtual device? I was expecting emulation of the operating system that we see on phones

I have 1500 MHz and 2 GB of RAM with Ubuntu, sometimes it takes a very long time to start, first ANDROID will appear, then the android image will appear, and only then the desktop.

And it should be like in the phone. Everything works for me under Windows. On Linux - the same garbage, hangs at boot. A window with an inscription and then only kill. They say that sometimes it helps to turn off the sound in the emulator. It really didn't help me, though.

On my beech with C2Duo T6600, it starts for 3-5 minutes. Moreover, on Ubuntu it takes about the same time to start as on Windows. Try to wait longer, like 30 minutes.

This is a Linux problem as I understood when I also tried to run it on Linux. Under Windows on the same computer, everything is fine and 10 times faster.
