How to run an emulator in Android Studio?

There is a working project.
I press Run , I select the "Nexus 5" emulator and
I get an error message:

Cannot launch AVD in emulator.
Output:
emulator: ERROR: x86 emulation currently requires hardware acceleration!
Please ensure Intel HAXM is properly installed and usable.
CPU acceleration status: HAX kernel module is not installed!

What to do?

Install and run HAXM, it's still written.

Google the error. The question has been raised a hundred times, even on the toaster.
