How to run a command on the server so that it works after shutdown?

There are VPS. I connect via ssh. You need to run the assembly of programs from source on the VPS. But the problem is that if the console is closed, then the assembly does not work either. Of course, googled this question. I found all sorts of jobs, sending commands to the background. They work, but if disconnected from the server, they are interrupted. I thought of writing a Web server to send commands from the browser, but it's crap. And to constantly keep the connection with the server - then the whole point of VPS disappears. What can you advise?
