How to resize Vertical Layout?

While the program is running, there is a moment when widgets of the same type are generated and added to the Vertical Layout. Unfortunately, this layout does not change its size - as it was set in Qt designer, this is how it is. How can I make it size based on how much space it's child elements take up (i.e.) when it's empty, it shouldn't take up any space. When something is added to it, it adjusts and also changes size.
