How to reset fingerprints on a scanner in a laptop?

There is a Toshiba tecra r940 laptop with a built-in fingerprint scanner. Firm Auntech or something like that. The whole thing is set through the TOSHIBA FingerPrint util utility.
After reinstalling the OS, when trying to set up a fingerprint for the same finger, the utility squeals that there is already such a finger, but it fails to log in, because it is not in the register of the utility itself. I've been poking around in the bios and haven't found anything to reset it to.
How can I solve this trouble?
