How to replace the driver of a device located in the local network?

Good day. I watched a movie, and there the main character, using C ++, replaced the "bunny" driver that moves his ears with his own. The hare itself was connected to the local network. Is it possible to do this in practice? Preferably use C++ or Python.

Is it possible to do this in practice?

It all depends primarily on the device "bunny". In some implementations this may not be possible, in others it is possible, but the complexity may differ by orders of magnitude (from "there is a ready-made recipe that requires only writing code" to "you will need a soldering iron, an oscilloscope, a signal analyzer, ...").
There is no universal answer; it is impossible to give an answer without examining iron.
