How to replace MovieMaker for Windows 7?

Recommend a video editor for the most primitive purposes:

  • compose video from different sources, formats, containers (camcorder, camera, phone)
  • trim clips
  • insert elementary transitions (not powerpoint-style, but simple fade-in/out)
  • align everything on the timeline
  • add music
  • print subtitles :-)
  • output to a digestible format (preferably DVD)

MovieMaker with a bang, but fit the parameters (except, it seems, digestibility of formats). "Film Studio" (primarily because of the dead timeline) - no.
It may be free, it may not be very expensive. Well, to be fresher, but without hallucinations and bugs.

VirtualDub with plugins should suffice.
