How to remove virus on Mac?

From time to time, strange sites like "Your Mac is infected, install blah blah blah ..." open up in the browser. Tell me how to remove this?

You probably don't have any viruses yet. Do not trust websites that offer to install something under any pretext. In OS X, it is desirable to install software only through the App Store. Well, or from installers from developers that you really, really trust.

  1. Install system updates regularly through the official App Store.
  2. Set up TimeMachine to make regular backups to an external drive.
  3. Don't get fooled by completely leftist sites, like in your screenshots - just ignore them.
  4. Do not go to pirate sites looking for free fonts.
  5. Install the AdBlock Plus extension in Safari to block ads and harmful sites.
