How to remotely get the counter values of a printer connected via usb?
Colleagues, good afternoon.
Please help me with the next task.
The organization has a large number of HP Officejet Pro X476/576dw MFP printers.
There is a need to regularly take meter readings.
Unfortunately, only a small part of the printers have the ability to plug them directly through the network. Most are connected to the computer via usb.
Is it possible to remotely take meter readings from them?
It is possible to remotely connect to computers with administrator rights. But is it possible to look through the connected printer?
Perhaps HP has some toolkit for this? Google, however, showed nothing of the kind.
If possible, I ask you to offer more general solutions, since in the future the problem will almost certainly have to be solved for printers of other models (most likely also HP).
Thanks in advance.

in Windows, there is WMI for this, once upon a time I wrote a utility that did this.
