How to "remember" winxp admin password
Situation - some time ago I installed WinXP on Virtualbox. The time has come when it was needed - and wow, the choice of an admin account and a forgotten password. I seem to have tried all my password options.
What do you recommend to change? I would not really like it - a fiercely long process on my hardware :(
UPD:
According to ace, a certain habrauser suggested that we need to look for a separate boot image with password recovery software, which was found at:
pogostick.net/ ~pnh/ntpasswd/
The image weighs 4 meters
In console mode, it makes it possible to reset / change the password (and not only.)
Which saved.
PS And yes, for those who like advice, go to Google right away:there are a hundred options, which ones are suitable for me, and which of the suitable ones is the most effective? So right off the bat, looking at the search results - can you tell? I started poking around, and I didn’t know how much I would do it - if some habrauser didn’t write to me in Asya. As a result, the optimal solution, which I shared here for the joy of posterity.

I confused a little: HirenBootCd does not “remember” the password, but resets it, i.e. takes down the password at the user in general.
“Remembering” is very costly in terms of resources. Reset or change using a Linux boot disk is a great thing, it works from 2000 to the latest versions, including 2008R2, but you need to remember one thing - if there were folders or files encrypted by EFS, and there are no certificate backups, then after changing or resetting the password in this way the contents of these folders or files can no longer be obtained (
google seems to be working

Just through the console and reset by a similar software, I once used it myself. There is a lot of such software, take any with a high rating in the software catalogs.
I often use HirenBootCD (correct me if I'm wrong: if the user has encrypted files, then resetting the password will lose access to them forever)
