How to remap keys in linux?

One button on the keyboard does not work for me, I want to replace it with another, unused one. How to do it? For example, to type the "a" key, you need to press, for example, the " Insert" key . If possible, please explain in more detail how to do this?

@hottabxp

Look towards xmodmap

For X - man xmodmap, although you can directly break the keyboard plan (for example, I reassign Gray Enter like this)
For the console - break the keyboard plan loaded at startup

if Ctrl-v works, then nothing needs to be changed.
