How to reduce the size of an EPS file generated via Apache FOP?
Used to generate EPS files via inkscape. The files were small, only 2-3Kb [1]
For several reasons I had to switch to Apache FOP. In Adobe Illustrator, both old and new EPS are shown the same way. But files from Apache FOP became 12-15Kb in size [2]. I have several thousand such files and their size is important to me.
I looked inside the files.
In the old file [1], first there are several heading comments, and then commands like lineto, moveto. The new file [2] has a huge amount of text that is repeated at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the file.
Are all these repetitions really needed in EPS?
How can I get rid of unnecessary data in EPS?
