How to redirect to https on the client?

There is a site example.com Access to the site is possible both via http and https. By default, the site is accessible via http. In order for encryption to work, you must manually type https://www.example.com , which is somewhat annoying. Is it possible to implement a redirect by means of the client, so that when visiting example.com it redirects to https://www.example.com If possible, how?
windows 8.1, firefox 37.0a2
