How to reconcile a github repository with github pages?

Hello,
let's say there is a repository on a github account called test-bootstrap. After automatically generating github pages, we get the user.github.io/test-bootstrap/ template page, how now to pull the index.html page from the repository instead of the template one?
What is the sequence of actions? Thanks
