How to raise the Debain DNS server?

Good day! I needed to raise the DNS server, found the article rus-linux.net/nlib.php?name=/MyLDP/BOOKS/ubuntu_ha... did everything as it says, rebooted the server, and checked with the nslookup www.example command. com xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx; and it gives me an error ** server can't find www.example.com: SERVFAIL
Help, how to fix it? Thank you!

Has resolv.conf been changed to use local DNS?

either you missed something / copied it incorrectly, or you are trying to resolve on the wrong host.
