Actually the question is in the title. How to quickly update the EAP version when a new one is released.
phpstorm itself offers to download the new version from the site and reinstall. But I didn’t understand whether all my projects and the settings already made would be saved.
How do you update it when a new version is released or when the free trial expires?

When upgrading to a major version, a reinstall is usually required. At the same time, the settings either remain, or at startup there will be a window with the ability to transfer the settings from the old version (the old settings are not deleted, and for example, when switching from 7.1 to 8, it is enough to rename the settings folder to the desired version, but this is not the best option). You can also export the settings to the archive, and apply on the new version.
