How to quickly get a thumbnail of a picture?

There are tifffiles in the size of 1 gigabyte.
It is necessary in the most optimal way (in terms of resource costs for obtaining) to pull out the thumbnail of the picture.
Will reading exif headers be faster than imagemagick ? (According to my tests, no, but still)
Or are there some more optimal programs for processing such large files?
