How to quickly and easily backup virtual machines on HyperV?
Hello.
There is a server 2019, it has virtual machines. In general, at night it is possible to backup them even when turned off.
But the question is what?
Right now I'm doing the "export" with my hands.
On the weekend I will write a simple powershell script for backup of virtual machines.
Virtual machines from export rise easily.
It is probably even possible to do EXPORT only when changing the configuration of the virtual machine, and as a backup, just copy a shadow copy of VHDX disks.
Is that how they do it in today's world?

Veeam, free version available for up to 10 virtual or physical machines
Backups are done as efficiently as possible for you, you can at least like in the prehistoric world.
Backups have 2 rules.
1. Make sure they are done
2. Make sure they work
And few people do the 2nd point.
At one time, I "backed up" 2012 Hyper-V snapshots with a powershell script that exported them to storage. But it's not "simple", since all error handling was left to the admin. But you don't have to pay anything. In 2019, the hypervisor is "slightly better" than 2012R2, so the method is working, it's another matter how exactly to restore later from a backup. Otherwise, really take Veeam, Symantec BackupExec or some other software, deploy and configure, it will be "simple", but possibly expensive. And in any case, there will be no "fast", since the amount of data to be backed up and the performance of the storage for them are unknown.
