How to query a variable in cmd?

Hi all. Tell me, please, how can I set a variable request from a batch file?
For example, I want to make a batch file that would copy a file from one disk to another, and after starting, the question would be raised, from which disk to copy, then to which disk to copy.
What disk to copy from? [specify the letter of the section]
Then this variable is filled in and is substituted in the right place in the script.
