How to pull closed api?

There is an installation.exe, after installation there are jar files in the program folder. The program communicates through a private api with the server. How to quickly pull api requests from this program?

Set up a proxy server on the wheelbarrow that would log all requests.
Poke the application and see what requests it makes.
