How to properly use autocomplete in KeePassX?
I have been using LastPass for the last many years, but I am constantly tormented by the thought that passwords are stored "out there" and not with me.
The only time-tested alternative for storing passwords is KeePassX.
But what always stops me from switching to KeePassX is the lack of autofill.
More precisely, it is, even regular, but

I can share the experience of life with KeePass + Firefox ESR.
In Firefox, the window title is changed using the KeePass Helper add-on (in Firefox 57+, there seem to be analogues). The domain name is added to the standard window title. KeePass is configured for this addition.
For example, on a toaster, the entrance is made on the site id.tmtm.ru. In KeePass, in the entry properties, it is indicated that auto-typing should be performed if the window name matches the following patterns:
My autotype is set to Ctrl+Alt+A. If there is only one matching entry, autodial occurs immediately. If there are several, pressing Ctrl+Alt+A will bring up a window where you can select the required entry.
You can specify how autodialing occurs. For example, the site first requires you to enter a login, then click on a button, then enter a password. It is specified something like this: {
USERNAME
}{ENTER}{DELAY 2000}{PASSWORD}{ENTER}
but I never used it. Perhaps it also solves the problem with auto-remembering credentials.
How can you trust an open source plugin with any name less than a closed tracker - I don’t understand at point blank range.
Of the convenient bonuses - the introduction of passwords not only in the browser: for example, for GPG and SSH keys, for Thunderbird, and so on.
Here is a nice series of several articles on setting up and using KeePass.
