How to properly use an SSD in ESXi?
There is a computer with an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard, ESXi 5.5 is installed on it, a datastore is WD Green, a virtual machine is raised, into which a USB controller and a video card are forwarded.
I decided to add an SSD, according to the passport there are two SATA controllers on the motherboard:
AMD SB950 controller :
5 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), (Gray)
1 x eSATA port(s), (Red)
ASMedia® PCIe SATA controller :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), navy blue
But it doesn't work like I imagined, WD Green is connected to gray SB950 connectors, SSD to blue ones, when I forward AMD SB950 or ASMedia in virtual machine there is no SSD
Tried to use this
www .v-front.de/2013/11/how-to-make-your-unsupporte...
did not help.
This is of course wrong, but I get two questions:
1. How can I forward a disk to ESXi on this motherboard?
2. What are the cheap PCIe SATA III controllers that can be forwarded to ESXi?
Threat
I'm trying to forward, because I read somewhere that TRIM will only work if you give the VM the entire controller, in fact, TRIM does not work right now
