Prompt, please, it is necessary to upgrade MS SQL Express 2008 to 2008R2, tk. the first option does not support files larger than 4 GB. We downloaded the update from the Microsoft website, installed it, at startup it says that the version is R2, but in the properties of the database it is still impossible to set the file size to more than 4 GB. How can this be fixed? Thanks in advance for your replies!

Feng Shui: base backup, installation/deployment of a new server, restoring to a new base server.
Server update usually does not mean changing express to prof for example. Well, free express is a freebie with limitations.

And why not to the current version of SQL Server 2017 Express> ? The limit has been increased. Compare available editions .
