How to properly organize the loading of a tape with a video?

If a small theoretical and practical task is loading and displaying video in a mobile application in the form of a tape (list). My next thoughts: for each video from the list, a separate socket connection is created, and the download is carried out through the socket. If, for example, a video disappears from view, the download of the hidden video is paused, and the download of the next video starts.
The question is, the video of which is paused, the connection is closed or remains open? Simply, the tape can be scrolled in the opposite direction and then you need to continue playing from the point where the video download ended earlier.
And is it possible to somehow optimize these processes?
