Good afternoon!
Can you please tell me which markup option for publishing a post is correct?
<time datetime="2012-12-23">Текст.</time>
Or like this:
<time itemprop="2012-12-23">Текст.</time>
And please tell me how to indicate the update of the record? Tell search engines that a post has been updated? Or just substitute a new date and they will sort it out themselves?

Set the lastmod attribute to work correctly in the sitemap file, it should show the date the page was last modified.

it's not for that at all. doesn't work for seo
