How to properly link gitlab repositories?

As a result of a giblab crash, the database was damaged. It was not possible to restore the database, I had to start all accounts from 0.
The question is how to pick up projects from the old version from the / git / data folder or do you need to re-start 1 at a time?

We'll have to restart - all the metadata was in the database, do not directly import back

Can you advise how to start? I created a new project, but the project folder was not created in the / git / data folder, or did I make a mistake, does it put the files in another place ?. I just haven’t worked with gits and gitlab before.
