How to promote a github account?

Let's say I write something, lay it out and no one will know about it.
And it is not interesting to develop the project further, because there is no interest, because Again, no one knows about the account.
In addition, the popular github gives some advantages to the programmer for self-promotion, and the more people in the know, the better and higher the likelihood of some orders or job offers. What do you think about the topic? Can you give me any tips on how to promote your account? Share your experience, ideas?

Until you have a good open-source project, it is absolutely pointless to advise you something.
Top github accounts are not the accounts of great people. And the accounts of wonderful programs.

You write a project that is normal and certainly not worse than the existing ones + all sorts of cool features there. It doesn't have to be big at all. And then in the thematic reddit you write, they say, this way and that, I washed down this here, this one can do it, unlike these ones, it does it in such a way that it is much more convenient and in general. And the English-speaking audience will catch up in a moment. But there is no special meaning, only if the stars are wound. So I point to upwork.com and write. They lie that I am someone (and not nobody), although on github I mostly have all sorts of children's toys.
But I only work with an English-speaking audience. Habr gives a few stars if the project is right, or similar to the right one
