How to process the signal from the aux port (mini jack)?

There is a pedal with a 6.3 mm jack output. Normally open contact. That is, when pressed, the jack contacts are closed.
If I connect to a computer via an aux adapter, will I be able to process the signal from the pedal? Pressed or not.
Very desirable in Python.

In theory, it is possible and you can (there is power in the microphone input and there should be a click at the moment of releasing and pressing). In practice, it's better not to do this - it's better to connect it to the keyboard.
