Can you help me figure out or understand how to set up or process a response from a mail server that a letter was sent to a non-existent address?
For example, using php, I send a letter to a [email protected] address by standard means. The sender's address is specified. From the mail.ru server comes a response that the email does not exist. How can I process this response?

You will receive a bounce letter to the box from which you sent the email, that is, just log in from php to this box and see if the bounce has come or not.
