How to play sound on tv via hdmi from pc?

Good afternoon!
I connected hdmi to the computer (into the nvidia geforce gts 250 video card) and plugged the other end into the Lg TV. The result - the picture is there, the sound is not. I rummaged through Google, updated the firewood, checked the default sound devices (there is no TV in the list of sound devices). Based on this, I wondered if it could be that hdmi on a video card is designed only for transmitting pictures, but not sound? Or do all these have to look for firewood further? (In the device manager everything is ok, the drivers themselves from Nvidia set the latest ....), the computer rebooted several times.

Not all have an audio processor. If you want audio with HDMI you need to have a 2-pin digital audio cable between your motherboard/or soundcard and your GTS250. It's like a coax s/pdif that has to connect the audio to the hdmi stream. If your monitor in turn can handle the s/pdif stream you will have working audio over HDMI from the gfx-card :)
