How to parse links on the mailbox?

I help the email, imaplib libraries to authenticate and parse the necessary ones.
But if you receive a link to register an account or something like that, pull it out and follow it does not give the desired result.
I suppose the transition goes through the mailbox server (it seems to me), how to send a request to the mailbox so that it repeats the same thing that happens in the browser?
In my life, I parsed 1 time, so noobs, sorry that the question can be completely lame.

I believe the transition goes through the mailbox server (I think so)
Seems.

If the script makes a request by link, you also need to send http headers.
