How to parse a list in a template in Django?

Good afternoon. I pass a list to the index.html template, in which the lines. Through "for" I sort through them and I deduce. Can I somehow cut the string already directly in the template from the series a[5:20]? I can’t do this at the moment, just divide by comma or so.
