How to organize copying of sent messages via smtp to the user's maildir?

The initial conditions are a working mail system (MTA: postfix, exim…, MDA: dovecot, courier ...)
How to configure postfix or exim so that letters sent (smtp protocol) by a user are copied to the folder (maildir) of the same user.
Copying is necessary so that the user can view sent messages in the sent (sent) folder via the IMAP protocol.

Well, all normal clients (Outlook is not one of them) by default copy to the Sent folder when sending.
Even Outlook is configurable.
