How to organize bookmarks in Firefox?

Please advise a Firefox add-on to sort 2000+ bookmarks? I usually added them as is (Ctrl + D), and then searched for the right one with the search. But recently I spent a good hour to find a bookmark for a site with a non-intuitive title and URL. I would like to avoid such a situation in the future.

Use Xmarks to remove duplicates and backups.
While there are 2000 bookmarks, you can still sort them into folders and delete unnecessary ones.
